(A☀️ Vision in Meditation)
There was a time
not long ago
when our people
only had so many
sources of light.
They were transfixed
upon the fire in the pit,
the reflection off the waves,
and on the mysterious sun.
Omniscient and eclipsing.
Wherever they gathered
the sun was a glance away.
It was at times God.
Always feeding by shining.
And here we are today,
with phones and tablets,
and laptops and flat screens
and iWatches and Switches.
Mostly indoors most of the time.
We might notice the sun
like an unrequited love
is seen by it’s beloved.
The viral depression
and the anxiety
and the mental health
is at a level unmatched:
in the madness, in the mania,
and the lack of faith
that swirls around us like a buzzard.
It is a part of our genetics,
as a member of the Animalia,
to gain line of sight
on the that burning sphere
and to call forth
expeditions and mobilize
to the sunny side.
